Launched at the beginning of 2011, I Will for Wales asks people to change their ways and in turn make Wales a better place in to live! Hundreds of people across the country have promised to take small, easy steps to look after their local area which can make a big difference.
One of our most recent supporters is John Griffiths, Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development. At this summer's National Eisteddfod in Wrexham, the Minister pledged to use a bag for life when shopping and not to flush inappropriate items down the toilet.
Several Welsh organisations have also pledged to make a difference with many encouraging staff to support the campaign at work and at home. One such company is Welsh Water who are committed to supporting communities, make Wales a greener safer place for its customers. Welsh Water promised to keep the area outside its offices clean and tidy and encourage staff to dispose of cigarette butts and chewing gum responsibly.
Claire Roberts, Education and Community manager at Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, says that staff have embraced the campaign.
"As an organisation, we were very excited about making the pledge as part of the ‘I Will For Wales’ campaign. We signed up to encourage our staff to become more aware of the environment and to highlight the small steps that everybody can take to become more environmentally friendly. Due to the nature of our work, we consider ourselves to be rather proactive when it comes to recycling and preventing littering, but it was good to bring it to the forefront of everybody’s minds and it is certainly something that we will aim to maintain."
