Keep Wales Tidy works to maintain a beautiful Wales that can be cared for and enjoyed by all. We work in close partnership with local authorities, schools and community groups to encourage participation and input from the public. Keep Wales Tidy currently run numerous programmes, from helping local communities to improve their area, to educating children on the importance of respecting the environment. We also administer awards to beaches and marinas which reach a high standard of cleanliness, as well as Tidy Wales Week, which encourages everyone to roll up their sleeves and get involved.
We tackle more than just litter and waste: our aim is to encourage the public to take responsibility for their environment by providing them with the utensils and the education to do so.
Take a look at the list below for further details on the extensive amount of work we undertake to help make Wales a cleaner, greener place to live.
Tidy Towns
Tidy Towns is a Welsh Government funded initiative which works closely with communities to improve their local environment. There is a Tidy Towns officer in each local authority who will help you set up a community group, or put you in touch with an existing group. Keep Wales Tidy is always on the lookout for volunteers to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in to improve their neighbourhood. Tidy Towns staff will provide you with the equipment and expertise to help maintain your local area, whether it be through litter picks, waste amnesties or developing community gardens.

Coastal Awards
Keep Wales Tidy operate many coastal awards for Welsh beaches and marinas. The Green Coast Award, Seaside Award and the Blue Flag Award are all given to beaches and marinas which comply with our strict cleanliness guidelines. These awards promote Wales as a destination for coastal tourism in such a manner as to bring sustainable economic and environmental benefits to the people of Wales.
Our LEQ team understands that improvements to local environmental quality can contribute towards a whole range of areas such as people’s quality of life, the health of communities and the business community. We regularly undertake work to identify innovative ways of tackling problems associated with improving the quality of the local environment. As part of our work, we seek to influence other organisations to develop a responsible attitude in terms of litter and the quality of the local environment. This often means us commenting on other organizations' documents, plans and policies such as those of the Welsh Assembly Government.
