If you’re struggling to stick to your new year’s resolutions, why not choose one from Keep Wales Tidy’s I Will for Wales campaign?
In 2011, hundreds of people from across Wales supported I Will for Wales by pledging to make their neighbourhoods nicer and brighter places to live. Now, with a new year ahead, Keep Wales Tidy has created new ideas so that even more people can do their bit for Wales.
Small lifestyle changes, when undertaken together, can have a positive impact on the environment. Keep Wales Tidy is urging those having a clearout after Christmas to recycle waste electronics, such as washing machines, fridges and televisions.
Research from Waste Awareness Wales shows that in 2010, over 466,000 tonnes of e-waste was collected and recycled, which is only around 38% by weight of the electronic goods sold. The rest ended up in landfill or is still in people’s homes. Recycling protects the environment and stops e-waste going to landfill.

Nigel Richards, a lecturer from Bridgend, has promised to dispose of electrical appliances at the appropriate deposit centres. He says:
"The amount of electrical goods that go to landfill is truly worrying. I will be taking all my unwanted appliances to my local deposit centre and telling all my friends and family to do the same."
Lesley Jones, Chief Executive of Keep Wales Tidy comments:
"Small lifestyle changes which are easy to maintain can have a positive impact on the environment. I urge anyone with unwanted electrical items to dispose of them responsibly and help keep Wales looking beautiful."
For more information on how to recycle your electrical appliances visit the Waste Awareness Wales website.
Alternatively, if you are a business, Keep Wales Tidy can help you recycle your old IT equipment.
